Vision
The Caprinae Specialist Group of IUCN is an international team of specialists on Caprinae who work for the conservation of all the wild sheep, goats and goat-antelopes living in their natural distribution ranges. A wise usage of their populations is compatible with the aims of the CSG.
Mission
Promotion, participation and endorsement of actions to improve the status of Caprinae species as well as their habitat conditions, in balance with coexisting natural predators.
Goals
- Promotion of an information exchange through international contacts of specialists, interest groups and agencies dedicated to the conservation of wild Caprinae.
- Advice to administrations and agencies to plan and implement conservation efforts dedicated to Caprinae.
- Monitoring and updating the status of Caprinae species.
- Enhancing human appreciation of the World’s Caprinae.
